Open Swim

Bristol location. Wednesday 8:00-9:00 AM, $15 per person, and in an open/lap swim for adults.

Curriculum Overview: Benchmarks are established at each stage in the program that combine both swimming and safety skills.  Students participate in learning activities that allow them to explore the water in a creative and comfortable environment.  Correct swimming techniques are taught from the very beginning with a focus om rolling over to breath on your back.  These techniques are designed to provide an easy transition as students progress and advance throughout the levels.  Instructors will take time at the end of every lesson to inform you on your child’s progress, areas where they are improving, and areas they need to continue working on.  All instructors are certified in our proprietary swim curriculum.  The lessons at Ripples Swim School are “continual” and not “session based”.   That means there are no set beginning and end dates for your lessons. Based on our lesson availability, you pick the day and time that works best for your schedule.  That will be your day and time every week for your 30 min lesson.  You are automatically re-enrolled on the first of every month unless a withdraw form has been submitted 30 days prior.

Lesson Format: Classes meet for 30 minutes once per week with the exception of Stroke Gold Plus (60 min) & Swim Team (90 min). Tots classes require parent participation.  All children under 3 are required to wear a disposable swim diaper with a reusable swim diaper over the top.

Class Size Ratios: Tots (7 students w/parents:1 instructor), Mini 1 & Mini 2 (2:1), Mini 3 & Jr White (3:1), Jr Red/Yellow/Blue/Green, Sr Swim, Stroke Silver & Gold (4:1), Stroke Gold Plus (8:1), Private (1:1), Semi-Private (2:1).

Make Up Lessons: Any cancellation of a class must be done at least 2 hours prior to you lesson start time in order to be eligible for a make-up class.  Make-up classes are limited to 1 make-up credited per month/per customer. Private and Semi-Private lessons may need to make up classes in a group lesson due to time and space limitations.

Annual Service Fee of $35 will be charged at the time of first registration and annually on each swimmer’s registration anniversary.

Cancellation Policy: We ask for 1 month notice of your desire to withdraw from you lesson.  A withdrawal form must be filled out and submitted to the front desk or emailed to CustomerService@RipplesSwim.com (Bristol customers) or CustomerServiceWW@RipplesSwim.com (West Warwick customers).  This form must be submitted by the first day of your last month of lessons.

TIPS FOR PARENTS

Your child will need to have a swimsuit and towel for their lesson. For children who are not potty trained or under the age of 3 1/2, we require swim diapers. You can purchase swim diapers at our school for your convenience. Although not mandatory, some children may prefer to wear goggles. If your child chooses to use goggle, please ensure that they are quality, well-fitting goggles. If you do not have goggles, we have them available for purchase at our front desk. It’s very important we start and end each lesson on time. For your child to receive their full instruction time please be ready on the pool deck at least 5 minutes prior to your scheduled lesson. Your child's instructor will be ready to start the lesson on time.

We recommend that they arrive at the pool with their swimsuit already on underneath their clothing. This will make getting them ready for their lesson once you arrive much easier. Also, please encourage children to use the bathroom before their lesson to minimize interruptions in their instruction time. The Rhode Island Board of Health requires that any adult or child who uses the pool take a shower immediately before getting in the pool. We recommend that children do not eat a large meal before lessons. Beginner swimmers under two years of age should avoid food (especially dairy products) 2 to 3 hours prior to each lesson.
